Synonyms
- Homotypic
- Hedera poetica Salisb., Prodr. Stirp. Chap. Allerton: 143 (1796), nom. illeg.
- Hedera diversifolia Stokes, Bot. Mat. Med. 1: 456. (1812), nom. illeg.

Note: This circumscription of the genus is polyphyletic (Green et al., 2011). It is rendered monophyletic by promoting Hedera helix subsp. rhizomatifera to its own species, Hedera rhizomatifera (McAll.) Jury, Willdenowia 34: 352 (2004) and demoting the other two sub-species to forma, see Govaerts et al. (2017) for this treatment.
