- Etymology: The epithet “andersonii” honors the collector of the type, Gladys P. Anderson (1888–?), a North American lichenologist active in the early 20th century. (Note: since Anderson is a female, the specific epithet needs to end in ae)
- Ecology and Distribution: Pertusaria andersoniae is presently known only from high elevations of the southern Appalachians (North Carolina and Virginia, USA).
