Marcusenius kaninginii Kisekelwa et al., 2016

  • Paratypes: MRAC B0-001-P-002-006 (5).

Type locality: DRC: North-Kivu: Lowa River, Walikale, upstream waterfall and Lowa bridge in Walikale city, 221 km from Bukavu on Bukavu-Kisangani Road, 1°25'53" S, 28°04'27" E.

Etymology: Marcusenius kaninginii is dedicated to Professor Boniface Kaningini Mwenyimali, Director of UERHA (Unité d’Enseignement et de Recherche en Hydrobiologie Appliquée) and Rector of ISP/Bukavu (DRC). He supported in various ways the sampling expeditions of TK in the Lowa system.
