  - Typus: M. Hotta 13876 (31 January 1964; Holotypus: KYO [three plates]; ⧼Isotypi⧽: K {K000292211^(JSTOR), K000292212^(JSTOR), K000292213^(JSTOR)} [leaves, all under number '13877']).
  - Type locality: Brunei. Brunei Temburong: along Sungai Lacquan, a branch of Sungai Batu Apoi, alt. ca. 50 m, river-side open place, mixed with Musa campestris and M. tuberculata.
