Note: It is assumed that Oaxacaniinae is most closely related to Hofmeisteriinae because it shares a similar habit, rupiculous life history, deeply lobed leaves and capitula with multiple series of phyllaries, therefore both subtribes often treated together, but see p. 735 Funk et al. (2009).
