- Type locality: Punta Akumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico (20°24'24" N and 87°18'14" W).
- Holotype: A.C. Mendoza González & Luz Elena Mateo-Cid; 9 April 2015; on intertidal rocks, female, male and tetrasporophytic thalli. ENCB.
