Western Palaearctic: Europe, Middle Asia (Turkmenija), Turkey, Iran.

Main characters

Mandibles of femles strong, long and broad, narrowed in middle and broadened at the apical half (spatulate), at apex with flat broad teeth divided by rather narrow impression, lower tooth broader and longer than upper one; clypeus flat, slightly convex at base, sharply impressed relative to middle and lateral fields of face. Head black with reddish frontal orbits. Thorax black with white scutellum and subalarum. Tergites 2-3 red, 2nd with with yellowish base, other tergites black; tergites 4-6 with white stripes at apex, 7th with white spot.

Hosts

Lepidoptera: Cirrhia togata Esp., Gortyna flavago Den. & Schiff. (Noctuidae).

Biology

Eggs deposition: larvae. Emerge: pupae.

Hibernation

Probably females hibernated as adult.

Ecology

(For Eastern Europe):

Biotopical preference: Alder forests.

Seasonal activity: Females are observed in May. Males are found in August (Tereshkin, 2011, 2014).
