Note: The name Vernoniopsis was first used as Vernoniopsis Dusén, Beih. Bot. Centralbl., Abt. 2. 38(2): 284. (1921) gen. nov. et sp. nov. describing the xylopodium of the combination Vernonia crassipes nom. nud., as part of his treatise on xylopodium bearing Brazilian flora.
