Name

Zonaria turneriana J.Agardh, 1870

• Lectotype locality: Warrington, Otago, South Island, New Zealand.
• Lectotype 1 (designated by Womersley 1967: 228): Berggren in 1874–75, Herb. Agardh, LD 48129.
  • According to Phillips & Nelson (1998: 78), this lectotypification is untenable, because the specimen would not have been available to Agardh.
• Lectotype 2 (designated by Phillips & Nelson 1998: 78): LD 48145 (dedit Turner ex herbario [scr. C. Agardh], identified as Fucus interruptus). Type locality may be in southern Australia, rather than New Zealand. It is probable that the specimen LD 48145, a small fragment attributed to the Turner herbarium, was taken from the plant illustrated in Plate 245 in Turner (1819). This specimen housed in the BM, was collected by Lambert in southern Australia.
