Etymology

From an epithet of Dionysus, Εὔιος (Eúios) or Εὐάν (Euán), probably from εὖ (, good) + υἱός (huiós, son) (implying "Well done, my son", said by Zeus to Dionysus after he won a fight in the Gigantomachy), or from εὖ (, good) + οἶνος (oînos, wine).
