кӏяла
Lak
Etymology
Inherited from Proto-Northeast Caucasian *ḳVlʡV ( ~ ḳ_w- -ɫ-,-ʕ-) (“white”): cognate with Ingush кӏай (ḳaj), Chechen кӏайн (ḳajn, “white”) and perhaps the first part of Udi кӏо-нак (ḳo-nak, “leucoma, wall-eye”).[1] According to Xajdakov, -ла (-la) is a determinative suffix, as in кӏюла (ḳjula, “thin”).[2]
Usage notes
Common in forming plant names, e.g.
