мес

Moksha

Etymology

Perhaps related to мезе (meze), see there for more. The Erzya counterpart is мекс (meks), illative ( (-s)) and translative (-кс (-ks)) forms of a hypothetical *me could be inferred. Veršinin lists Erzya me, mejs “why” as cognates of мезе (meze),[1] the usage of Latin transliteration suggests that these forms are not a part of the literary language (i.e., dialectal, etc.)
