Letter
ё • (jo) (lower case, upper case Ё)
- The seventh letter of the Russian Cyrillic alphabet. Its name is ё (jo) and it has the sound of yo in York. This letter almost invariably bears the word stress. However, the diaeresis is usually not used outside of dictionaries and children’s books, where the letter is usually written simply as е. It is preceded by Е (Je) and followed by Ж (Ž).
