Etymology
From Middle Median *arītaxōδ, from Proto-Iranian *riHtáh (“face”) (whence Sogdian 𐽀𐼷𐽂 (ryt /rīt, rēt/, “face”)) + *xáwdaH (“cover”) (whence Old Persian 𐎧𐎢𐎭𐎠 (xaudā, “hat”), Old Armenian խոյր (xoyr)).
