արօտ
Old Armenian
Alternative forms
- արաւտ (arawt)
Etymology
The original spelling is արաւտ (arawt), probably from Proto-Indo-European *trh₂ǵ-ti-, a deverbative noun based on *treh₂ǵ-, whence արածեմ (aracem).[1][2]
According to Ałayan, the word contains the suffix -աւտ (-awt)[3], but this is considered improbable by Martirosyan[2].
