աւազակ
Old Armenian
Etymology
The origin is uncertain.
According to Asatryan, perhaps from Middle Iranian *āwā̆zāk (“carrying away”), an agent noun from the preverb *ā- + *waz- (“to carry”), from Proto-Indo-European *weǵʰ-. For the suffix see -ակ (-ak).
