Etymology

From Middle Armenian թարմ (tʿarm), from Proto-Indo-European *tr̥-mo-, from the zero-grade of the root *ter- + the suffix *-mo- (whence (-m)). Among the cognates J̌ahukyan compares especially Albanian trim, Latin termes (cut-off branch), Ancient Greek τεράμων (terámōn, becoming soft by boiling).
