Etymology
From Proto-Indo-European *h₃orǵʰ-i- + -ք (-kʿ). Cognates include Ancient Greek ὄρχις (órkhis), Avestan 𐬆𐬭𐬆𐬰𐬌 (ǝrǝzi, “testicles”), Hittite [script needed] (arki-, “testicle”), Albanian herdhe, and Middle Irish uirgge (“testicle”). See also որձ (orj), յորձ (yorj). Proto-Georgian-Zan *werʒ₁- may be an Armenian borrowing.
Usage notes
The singular *որձի (*orji) is not attested.
