כילה

כילה \ כִּלָּה • (kilá) (pi'el construction, infinitive לְכַלּוֹת‎, passive counterpart כולה \ כֻּלָּה‎)

1. (literary) to finish, end, complete
   • Genesis 2:2, with translation of the Jewish Publication Society:
     • ‏וַיְכַל אֱלֹהִים בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי מְלַאכְתּוֹ אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה וַיִּשְׁבֹּת בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי מִכָּל־מְלַאכְתּוֹ אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה׃‎‎

       vay'khál 'elohím bayóm hash'vi'í m'lakhtó 'ashér 'asá vayishbót bayóm hash'vi'í mikol-m'lakhtó 'ashér 'asá.
       wayəḵal ʾĕlōhīm bayyōm haššəḇīʿī məlaḵtō ʾăšer ʿāśā wayyišbōṯ bayyōm haššəḇīʿī mikkol-məlaḵtō ʾăšer ʿāśā.

       And on the seventh day God finished His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made.

2. to eliminate, annihilate, destroy completely

     And this is what has stood by our forefathers and by us / For not one alone has stood against us to destroy us / But in every generation they stand against us to destroy us / And the Holy One Blessed Be He saves us from their hand.
