עֲצֶרֶת • ('atzéret) f (plural indefinite עֲצָרוֹת‎, singular construct עֲצֵרֶת־‎, plural construct עַצְרוֹת־‎)

1. Gathering of an organization

     Resolution 194 of the United Nations General Assembly was received on 11 December 1948.

2. Assembly or rally

     ‏במהלך העצרת יוקרן נאום של הנשיא האמריקני שהוקלט במיוחד לאירוע‎

     During the rally, a speech by the American president recorded specifically for the event will be screened.

3. (mathematics) factorial

     Ha-mispár "shesh 'atzéret" hi ha-makhpeláh shel aḥát, shtáyim, shalósh, arba', ḥamésh, v-shesh.

     The number "6 factorial" is the product of one, two, three, four, five, and six.

4. (biblical) A festival's eighth day of assembly, usually for Sukkot

   Leviticus 23:36, with translation of the Jewish Publication Society:

   ‏שִׁבְעַת יָמִים תַּקְרִיבוּ אִשֶּׁה לַיהוָה בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁמִינִי מִקְרָא קֹדֶשׁ יִהְיֶה לָכֶם וְהִקְרַבְתֶּם אִשֶּׁה לַיהוָה עֲצֶרֶת הִוא כָּל מְלֶאכֶת עֲבֹדָה לֹא תַעֲשׂוּ׃‎‎

   Shiv'at yamim taqrivo isheh l-YHWH, ba-yom ha-shmini miqra qodesh yih'yeh lakhem v-hiqravtem isheh l-YHWH; 'atzeret hi, kol m'lekhet avodah lo ta'asu.

   Seven days ye shall bring an offering made by fire unto the LORD; on the eighth day shall be a holy convocation unto you; and ye shall bring an offering made by fire unto the LORD; it is a day of solemn assembly; ye shall do no manner of servile work.

   ‏תָּנָא: כֻּלָם מֵתוּ מִפֵּסַח וְעַד עֲצֶרֶֶת‎‎

   Tána: kulám métu miPésaḥ v-ad 'Atzéret

   It is taught: they all died between Passover and Shavuot.
