Etymology
From Middle Persian tnwl (tanūr, “oven”) from Akkadian 𒋾𒂟 (tinūru). This word has likewise been borrowed into Aramaic as תנורא / ܬܰܢܽܘܪܳܐ (tannūrā) and therethrough spawned Arabic تَنُّور (tannūr).
