Etymology
From Middle Persian ʾlcyc (arzīz, “tin, lead”) (Manichaean Middle Persian ʾrzyz). Akin to Middle Armenian արճիճ (arčič, “lead”), an Iranian borrowing. Perhaps ultimately from Proto-Iranian *arĵata- (“silver”), from Proto-Indo-European *h₂erǵ-.[1]
