بینالمللی
Persian
Alternative forms
- بین المللی (beyn olmelali, beyn almelali) — with space instead of a ZWNJ.
Etymology
From Arabic بَيْنَ ٱلْمِلَلِ (bayna l-milali, “between the nations”) + the Persian ending ی (-i). The Arabic word مِلّة (milla) is used in the uncommon or dated sense “people, nation”, which is current in Persian ملت (mellat). Compare Turkish beynelmilel (“international”). In Arabic itself, the word دُوَلِيّ (duwaliyy) has become standardised for “international”.
