beynelmilel
Turkish
Etymology
From Arabic بَيْنَ ٱلْمِلَلِ (bayna l-milali, “between the nations”) with the word مِلّة (milla) in the uncommon or dated sense “people, nation”, which is current in Turkish millet. Compare Persian بینالمللی (beynalmelali). In Arabic itself, the word دُوَلِيّ (duwaliyy) has become standardised for “international”.
