From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (dlht'), [Book Pahlavi needed] (dlʾht'), 𐫅𐫡𐫟𐫤 (drxt /draxt/, “tree”). Cognate with Parthian 𐫅𐫡𐫟𐫤 (drxt /draxt/), Baluchi درچک (diračk, “tree”). Compare also the Iranian borrowings Aramaic [script needed] (drḥt, “tree”), Old Armenian դրախտ (draxt, “garden; paradise”).
