From Old Gujarati रहइ, from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀭𑀳𑀤𑀺 (rahadi), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *ráźʰati (“to remain, stay”). Cognate with Marathi राहणे (rāhṇe), Hindi रहना (rahnā), Nepali रहनु (rahanu), Assamese ৰোৱা (rüa).
