From Old Georgian რვა (rva), from Proto-Kartvelian *arwa- (“eight”), borrowed from Proto-Semitic *ʔarbaʕ-; see below. Cognate with Mingrelian რუო (ruo), Laz ოვრო (ovro) and Svan არა (ara).
