髪 (kami, “hair”) + 剃り (sori, “shaving facial hair or body hair; a tool used for such”, 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 剃る (soru, “to shave facial hair or body hair”).), from Proto-Japonic *kamisəri. The kanji are jukujikun (熟字訓) from Chinese.
