Compound of 居 (i, “being in a place, sitting in a place”, the 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “continuative or stem form”) of verb 居る iru “to be (for animate subjects)”) + 酒 (saka, “sake, liquor, alcoholic beverage”) + 屋 (ya, “house, store, building”). The saka changes to zaka as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
