Etymology

First attested in the Worin seokbo (月印釋譜 / 월인석보), 1459, as Middle Korean ᄀᆞᄅᆞ치다 (kolochita). Cognate with 가리키다 (garikida, “to point”), 가락 (garak, “a thin, long object; finger”).
