Etymology
According to Bailey from the Proto-Iranian preverb *Ä- + *ĵƔnati (ābe bornā), which is from Proto-Indo-European *Ēµenhā-. Cognate with Avestan š¬š¬Æš¬„š¬ā (Äsna, ānobleā), Khotanese [script needed] (ÄysƱa-, āwell-born, nobleā), first component of Middle Persian [script needed] (Ź¾znŹ¾wl /ÄznÄwar/), as well as Old Armenian Õ”Õ¦Õ¶ (azn), Georgian įįįį (azni), įįįįį£į į (aznauri), Iranian loanwords.
