1. Creates diminutives of neuter nouns, sometimes with a particularizing sense.

   ‎го́рло (górlo, “throat”) + ‎-ышко (-yško) → ‎го́рлышко (górlyško, “small throat”)

   ‎крыло́ (kryló, “wing”) + ‎-ышко (-yško) → ‎кры́лышко (krýlyško, “small wing”)

   ‎перо́ (peró, “feather”) + ‎-ышко (-yško) → ‎пёрышко (pjóryško, “small feather”)

   ‎стекло́ (stekló, “glass”) + ‎-ышко (-yško) → ‎стёклышко (stjóklyško, “(small) piece of glass”)

   ‎зерно́ (zernó, “grain”) + ‎-ышко (-yško) → ‎зёрнышко (zjórnyško, “(small) kernel of grain”)

• In some cases, a suffix is dropped, as in со́лнышко (sólnyško) from со́лнце (sólnce).
• The normal plural is irregular -́ышки.
