German Low German
Etymology
From Middle Low German bîl, from the merger of Old Saxon bīl, bil (“peg, nail”) and Old Saxon bil, bill (“hatchet, sword, battle-axe”). Apparently at least partly from Proto-Germanic *bilją (“blade, sword, nail, peg”), but conflated early on with another word, see that entry for more.
