Of uncertain meaning. The City of Galway is named after the old name for the River Corrib that runs from Lake Corrib to Galway Bay is called 'Abhainn na Gaillimhe' in Irish. It is said that 'gaillimh' may mean 'rocky' or 'stony' in English.
