Mjǫllnir

Old Norse

Etymology

Most likely from Proto-Norse [script needed] (*melluniaʀ), from Proto-Germanic *meldunjaz, from Proto-Indo-European *meldʰ-n- (lightning).

Compare Old Norse mjuln (fire), Welsh mellt (lightning), Russian молния (molnija, lightning), Latvian milna (hammer of Pērkons).
