Proto-Germanic

Etymology

The Gothic descendant 𐌰𐌶𐌲𐍉 (azgō) ascribed to this etymon leads Kroonen to suggest a derivation from a compound of *h₂ed- (to dry) + *dʰegʷʰ- (to burn).[1]

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /ˈɑs.kɔ̃ː/

*askǭ f [2]
