Possibly from Proto-Indo-European *mléw-e-, from Proto-Indo-European *mlew-. Related to Ancient Greek ἀμβλύς (amblús, “blunt; dim, faint”), Avestan 𐬨𐬭𐬎𐬙𐬀 (mruta, “crushed (?), weak”).[1]
