Perhaps from Pre-Germanic *wekʷsp(e)ros (evening), from Proto-Indo-European *wek(ʷ)speros, from *wekʷsp-, with the -p- passing to -t- under the influence of the dentals in *austraz, *nurþraz, *sunþraz.[1]
