Indo-European cognates include Gothic 𐌷𐌰𐌹𐍂𐌳𐌰 (hairda, herd), and possibly Sanskrit शर्ध m (śárdha, host (of Maruts)) and Avestan 𐬯𐬀𐬭𐬆𐬜𐬀 (sarəδa, kind, nature).
