Schluuch

Alemannic German

Etymology

From Middle High German schlūch (molted snakeskin; tube, hose). Related to German schlüpfen (to slip), an intensive form of schliefen (Alemannic German schlüüfe) (now a regional synonym), which is related closely to schleifen (to drag, pull around) (Alemannic German schleipfe), ultimately from Proto-Germanic *slaipijaną (to cause to slide, to pull along, to drag). Cognate with German Schlauch.

Noun
