From Proto-Albanian *barā, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰor-eh₂ (“burden, load”), from the root *bʰer- (“to carry”). Cognate to Ancient Greek φορά (phorá, “burden, load”)[1]. More at bie and bark.

From Proto-Albanian *barnā, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰer- (“to carry”). A singularized plural, cognate with Germanic *barną (“child”). Compare Old Norse barn (“child”)[2].
