From Arabic بَوْسة (bawsa), derived from باسَ, يَبُوسُ (bāsa, yabūsu, “to kiss”), from Persian بوسیدن (busidan). The Arabic noun is deverbal, but may have been influenced directly by the Persian بوسه (buse, “a kiss”).
