butuc
Romanian
Etymology
Uncertain. Possibly from a Vulgar Latin root *bot(t)um, *bottia (“bump”) + -uc, a Germanic borrowing, from Frankish *boce (“knob”), from Old High German bozzan (“to beat”), from Proto-Germanic *bautaną (“to push, strike”).[1]
Compare bot.
