Etymology
From Medieval Latin or Late Latin dēcadēre, from Latin de- and cadere (“to fall”) (whence also choir). See also the Classical Latin form decidō, decidere. Compare Catalan decaure, Italian decadere, Portuguese decair, Spanish decaer and English decay.
