From Proto-Albanian *dhH̥₁-teH₂, from Proto-Indo-European *dheH₁-, *dhH̥₁- 'to place put'. Cognate to Ancient Greek τίθημι (títhēmi, “to place”), Latin facio (“I do, make”), Lithuanian dėti (“to put”), Sanskrit दधाति (dádhāti), Old English dōn (“to do”).
