From late Proto-Albanian *dimənə < *ðimənə, from early Proto-Albanian *j́īmanʉh, from Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰéymōn < *ǵʰeym- (“winter”). Cognate with Ancient Greek χειμών (kheimṓn, “winter”).[1]
