dyghow
Cornish
Etymology
From Proto-Celtic *dexsos (“right”). Cognate with Breton dehou, Welsh de, Irish deas, Scottish Gaelic deas, Manx jiass.
The sense "southern" comes from the fact that the south is on the right-hand side of a person facing east.
