Via other European languages, ultimately borrowed from Latin ēiaculor (to hurl, to shoot out) (cf. perfect passive participle ēiaculātus), from ē (out) + iaculor (throw, dart), from iaculum (a missile, a dart), from iaciō (to throw, to hurl).
