Etymology

Ultimately from Proto-Turkic *gẹl-mek (to come). Cognate with Old Turkic 𐰚𐰠 (kel-, to come), Karakhanid کـَلْماكْ (kelmēk, to come), Turkish gelmek, Kazakh келу (kelw), Uzbek kelmoq.

  1. (intransitive) to come
    -Dostun hanı, niyə gəlmədi? - Yəqin yoldadır.

  2. (intransitive, with dative) to seem
    -Mənə elə gəlir ki, dostun bizi bəyənmir.
    -It seems to me that your friend doesn't like us.
