From Old Portuguese junio, from Latin iūnius, from the name of the goddess Iūnō (“Juno”).
Usage notes
In Brazilian Portuguese, the names of months were usually not capitalized. But in Portugal they were. The Portuguese Language Orthographic Agreement of 1990 abolished their capitalization.
